MANILA, Philippines – The lawyer of Janet Lim-Napoles denied that his client and alleged pork barrel scam mastermind got her bleeding through sex.

Lawyer Bruce Rivera said the prosecution asked Napoles’ doctor a “general question” about vaginal bleeding that does not specifically pertain to Napoles.

On Friday, Napoles’ doctor, Efren Domingo, testified before the Makati City Regional Trial Court that aside from stress, a “private, intimate contact” may have also caused Napoles’ bleeding.

Domingo supposedly said, “Our patient is human, she has her urges.”

Rivera said the doctor was supposedly asked by the prosecution on the possible causes of vaginal bleeding.

When the prosecution asked if “intimate contact” may be a reason, the doctor said yes, Rivera said.

“It was a general question and clearly the doctor cannot tell a lie,” Rivera said in a phone interview.

He added that the doctor’s answer “was not specific to Mrs. Napoles.”

Rivera said it was “impossible” that Napoles could have sex in the hospital because it was “not a conducive environment” and “the family was there all the time”.

“What we are answering is that we don’t want to misconstrue this and say that is the cause,” he added, noting that the doctor has yet to determine what it is.

Napoles’ bleeding started on May 17 but the doctor said he was informed only May 19. He said her bleeding was significant since the amount of blood was enough to soak her jogging pants and her bed.

Napoles’ diabetes had also worsened, Domingo added.

The doctor said he could discharge Napoles on May 28 or after seven days in which there would be no bleeding.

Napoles is the accused mastermind of the pork barrel scam by which billions of public funds were allegedly diverted to ghost projects for kickbacks among Napoles, lawmakers and other government officials.
