Our 125 public and private not-for-profit universities offer relatively low costs. Scholarships are generally based on academic merit, and some are specifically for international students, requiring a separate application.

4  Multicultural society

Almost all of the world’s ethnic groups are represented in Canada, including thousands from the Asia Pacific region. Studying in Canada gives international students access to exciting cross-cultural experiences.

5  Healthy and safe communities

The United Nations consistently ranks Canada as one of the best places in the world to live in. International students enjoy the same freedoms that protect Canadians: respect for human rights, equality and a stable and peaceful society.

6  World-class language education

Canada is a bilingual country with English and French as official languages. Since teaching French and English as a first and second language is an integral part of our education, students in Canada have the opportunity to improve their fluency and capacity for either language while studying.

7  Exciting campus lifestyle

Canadian colleges and universities are not only wired with the latest sophisticated technology but also with modern amenities, from Olympic-quality sports facilities to public concert halls and art galleries. Students gain valuable experience through taking part in student-run governments, radio, newspapers and businesses.

8  Innovative and abundant research opportunities

According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Canada is a world leader in post-secondary research, outpacing other G-7 countries in investment in higher education.  Our schools, universities and colleges are engaged in innovative research in the fields of health, biotechnology, information and communications technology, environmental technologies, agriculture and renewable fuels, among other sectors. These areas of research offer exciting study opportunities for international students.

9  Land of possibilities

Canada represents a tremendous opportunity for students from the Philippines to advance their career opportunities. Eligible full-time international students can work either on or off campus to gain valuable experience and to help finance their stay while studying in Canada.

Off-campus work permits eligible students to work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session. However, they can also work full-time during regularly scheduled academic breaks. The Post-graduation Work Permit Program allows students who have graduated from a participating Canadian post-secondary institution to work in Canada for up to three years.

10 Possibility of immigration

Some international students with Canadian credentials and  work experience may apply for permanent residency without having to leave Canada. Skilled Canadian work experience helps graduates who wish to stay longer qualify for permanent residence through the Canadian Experience Class.
