MRT cancels afternoon ‘express train’ service
MANILA, Philippines—The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 would no longer run its afternoon express trains, the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) said Wednesday.
The DOTC, in a Twitter post, said the MRT had decided to stop the afternoon operations of its express train which started operations Tuesday afternoon.
The afternoon express trains were slated to take off from Taft Avenue, and make a pick-up stop at either Magallanes station, Ayala station, or Buendia station, then proceed directly to Cubao, GMA-Kamuning, Quezon Avenue and North Avenue stations. It was supposed to operate from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
However, it said the morning run of the express trains would continue until May 20.
On May 7, the two-week experimental MRT-3 express train run was launched.
The MRT-3 said it would evaluate the results of the experiment and would make its recommendation to the DOTC if it should make the express train service permanent.
