Pawnshop loses P2M

MANILA, Philippines—A pawnshop lost more than P2 million to thieves who bored a hole in the establishment’s wall over the weekend in

Quezon City.

The robbers also destroyed the vault of the VY Domingo Pawnshop branch on Quirino Highway, Barangay (village) Greater Lagro, using acetylene-powered torches.

Case investigator SPO1 Pascual Fabreag said the establishment lost jewelry worth P2,364,100 and P22,460 in cash.

Branch manager Theresita Garzon said she and her employees closed the shop around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

However, the alarm went off shortly before 4:20 a.m. the next day, prompting the police and the shop’s security guards to rush to the scene.

When they got there, they opened the door and found out that someone had destroyed the vault.
