Napoles’ surgery successful—doctor
MANILA, Philippines—Janet Lim-Napoles, the alleged mastermind behind the pork barrel scam, underwent a successful operation early Wednesday, with the removal of her entire uterus and both ovaries, her physician said Wednesday.
Dr. Efren Domingo, Napoles’ private doctor from St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig, told reporters that the operation started from 8:00 a.m. and was finished 10:00a.m.
According to him, Napoles had a tumor in her uterus (severe adenomyosis of the uterus with multiple adenomyomata) but said she is now “awake, coherent, and with stable vital signs.”
Adenomyosis is the displacement of tissues in the uterus which may lead to extended bleeding and discomfort during menstrual period.
“We are happy to accomplish our task. Tumor was not cancerous. We were able to remove it completely,” he said.

Napoles has been confined at the Ospital ng Makati since March 31 after the Makati RTC issued a ruling allowing her to seek treatment for her uterine cyst but only if it would be done at the local government hospital in Makati.
Napoles earlier complained of profuse bleeding and abdominal pain, which, according to doctors, were symptoms of the tumor in her uterus.
