Napoles to have surgery on Tuesday – report

MANILA, Philippines—Alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles will have her surgery on Tuesday, Inquirer Radio 990AM reported on Monday.

The report quoted Napoles’ lawyer Fay Singson as saying the businesswoman’s surgery to remove the cyst in her uterus will be done on Tuesday night.

Last April 2, the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 150 allowed Napoles to undergo a surgery in the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak) for the cyst in her uterus, but it rejected Napoles’ appeal to have it done in St. Luke’s Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

But the court allowed Napoles’ doctors in St. Luke’s to conduct the surgery in OsMak.

Napoles is expected to be confined for 26 days after her surgery.

Napoles is currently detained for serious illegal detention charges filed against her at the Makati court by her cousin and former employee, pork barrel scam principal whistle-blower Benhur Luy.

The pork barrel scam is the elaborate scheme of coursing the now defunct Priority Development Assistance Funds to the bogus organizations of Napoles for kickbacks among lawmakers, officials and Napoles.

Plunder and graft charges were filed against Napoles and several others implicated in the scam.
