CDN scribe hurt in road accident
A CORRESPONDENT of Cebu Daily News was injured when he was thrown off his motorbike in a vehicular accident in barangay Cambaru, Mandaue City, about 8:30 a.m. yesterday.
Norman Mendoza, 39, was knocked unconscious for a while after landing hard on the pavement. He had cuts and bruises on the face and arms.
Traffic police said Mendoza was driving past 8 a.m. on A.C. Cortes Street when he tried to get ahead of a trisikad parked by the road.
His steering wheel hit the bicycle cart, which was used as a rolling bakeshop owned by Alang-alang barangay captain Mylene Sanchez. The impact threw Mendoza several meters away. His crash helmet broke.
Mendoza, who is also a reporter of radio dySS, was disoriented after the accident and couldn’t recall exactly what had happened. He was confined for tests in Perpetual Succour Hospital in Cebu City.
PO1 Marin Jay Dejeto, traffic investigator, said Mendoza first went to the police office, where he and the trisikad driver, Floro Azucenas Jr., reached an amicable settlement./JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
