Cloudy with chance of rain in forecast

MANILA, Philippines—Expect some clouds on the horizon on Holy Week.
In its outlook for the week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration predicted partly cloudy to cloudy skies prevailing over most of the country, with scattered rains in the afternoon or evening.
The weather bureau said the Visayas, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and Bicol will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday.
A low pressure area (LPA) hovering east of the Philippines is expected to cross the Visayas this week. As of Saturday morning, the weather disturbance was spotted some 440 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
“The LPA will be in the vicinity of Palawan by Tuesday,” Pagasa said.
Article continues after this advertisement“The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the afternoon or evening with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms,” it added.
Article continues after this advertisementBy Tuesday, a gradual improvement in the weather is expected over eastern and central Visayas.
“However, western Visayas, Mimaropa, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and Metro Manila will be cloudy with scattered light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms,” Pagasa said.
From Wednesday to Friday, the whole country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the afternoon or evening, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, the weather bureau said.
The LPA is expected to dissipate after crossing Palawan this week, it added.
