PDEA agent shot dead in Sorsogon City
NAGA CITY, Camarines Sur, Philippines—An agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was shot dead by still unidentified men in Sorsogon City on Saturday afternoon, police said.
PDEA agent Arnel Estrellado was shot five times by two men on a motorcycle in Barangay Tugos, Sorsogon City around 2:30 p.m., Superintendent Aarne Oliquino, Sorsogon City’s police chief, said in a telephone interview.
He said Estrellado was shot while he was on the street in front of a small canteen he owned.
The assailants escaped in the general direction of Sorsogon City’s Bacon district, he said.
Estrellado was immediately brought to the Sorsogon Doctors Hospital in Sorsogon City where he died shortly after arrival, Oliquino added.
He said police investigators were looking into the possibility that the motive behind the crime was related to Estrellado’s work as a PDEA agent.
