Cooler weather is over as summer approaches

MANILA, Philippines—Weather is expected to get less cooler as the month of March approaches, the state weather bureau said Friday.

This as the northeast monsoon, which brings cold weather, has started to weaken, weather forecaster Gener Quitlong told INQUIRER.net.

By the second or third week of March, the northeast monsoon will be replaced by easterlies, or winds blowing from the east. This will bring warm weather and signal the start of the summer season.

The northeast monsoon continues to affect Luzon and Visayas, Pagasa’s Friday bulletin said.

“Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains,” Pagasa said.

Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.
