BULA, Camarines Sur — A poultry raiser and his wife were found dead with multiple stab wounds shortly after a fire partially burned their house in San Vicente town, Camarines Norte, Sunday evening, police said Monday.

PO2 Marivic Rivera, spokesperson of San Vicente municipal police, identified the couple as Romeo Liwag, 59, and Raquel, 57, who were found dead in their home in Barangay Calabagas at 6:58 p.m.

“The two bore stab wounds in the head and torso,” said Rivera.

She said the house could have been intentionally set on fire by still unidentified men to cover up the killing of the couple.

Rivera said Raquel was first found by the police inside the partially burned house while Romeo was found outside of the house, about 50 meters away from a fishpond, also located in the couple’s property.

Witnesses told police they saw two male helpers of the couple leaving the house shortly after the fire started.

“Robbery is being eyed as a motive in the killing,” said Rivera.
