Philippine Navy needs 4,000 personnel
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Navy is recruiting about 4,000 personnel for the next two years.
“The Navy hopes to convene at least 100 candidates for Naval Officer Candidate Course (NOCC) and 1,900 candidates for Basic Seaman Course (BSC) this year and same on the year 2015,” Navy spokesperson Lieutenant Commander Gregory Gerald Fabic said in a statement on Wednesday.
The recruitment was “in a move to address its personnel deficiency.”
In a separate interview with INQUIRER.net, Fabic said they need to fill up the lack of operational troop strength.
“We need to augment officers and personnel of the navy due to normal attrition. And we also need personnel to man our upcoming vessels,” he said.
Among the upcoming assets to be added to the Navy’s inventory include two naval attack helicopters, two strategic sealift vessels and two frigates.

Article continues after this advertisementA series of mobile recruitment will be conducted at several Navy operational commands such a as Naval Forces Northern Luzon n La Union; Naval Forces Southern Luzon in Legaspi, Naval Forces Central in Cebu.
In the recruitment center in Bonifacio Naval Station in Taguig City, the Navy has doubled its schedule of examinations to twice every Thursday instead of the usual schedule which is once every Thursday.
Initial requirements are transcript of records, NSO birth certificate, diploma, NBI clearance and 2×2 picture.
Applicants for NOCC must be a natural-born Filipino citizen and of good moral character, must be 21-28 years old, single and a graduate of a four-year baccalaureate degree preferably technical course. They must have a height of at least 5 feet for both males and females, and must not have any pending civil or criminal case. They must also be physically and mentally fit for training, and must also pass the AFP Achievement Test, Battery, IQ test and special written exams.
Applicants for the BSC must be between 18-23 years old and a holder of at least 72 units or graduate of a two-year vocational course preferably technical course.
