Aquino still has full trust in Alcala, says Palace spokesman
MANILA, Philippines – Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding Agriculture Proceso Alcala, President Benigno Aquino III continues to have full trust in him, a Malacañang spokesman said Tuesday.
In a press briefing in Malacañang, Herminio Coloma, Presidential Communications Operations Office secretary said that Alcala “still enjoys the President’s full trust and confidence.”
The statement was issued amid reports of rice smuggling and overpricing and a P1.07 billion plunder case filed against Alcala on Jan. 24.
Coloma said that each department secretary has a “performance contract” and a “performance agreement” and it would show on the national budget.
“There is concrete evidence to determine if a Cabinet secretary or his or her department has kept their end of the agreement,” Coloma said.
