‘Agaton’ death toll rises to 56; 10 still missing
MANILA, Philippines – Deaths from Tropical Depression “Agaton” reached over 50 on Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
There are now 56 persons killed and 10 missing from Agaton.
Affected persons also rose to over a million, while those housed in shelters in parts of Mindanao were about 181,000.
Agaton, which lingered for nearly two weeks, weakened into a low pressure area before it finally dissipated on Wednesday. The cyclone spawned heavy rains and landslides which caused the fatalities.
At least 83 were injured because of Agaton.
