LADY COP NABS ‘SNATCHER’

A POLICEWOMAN arrested a man who allegedly tried to snatch her necklace as she walked home in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, yesterday afternoon.

SPO2 Rowena Peñaflor, assigned at the Subangdaku police precinct, collared James Pelayo, who was drunk during the incident, said police.

While she was walking home past 5 p.m., Peñaflor passed by a man, who grabbed the police officer’s necklace worth P15,000.

Peñaflor was quick to grab the man’s hand and subdue him.

Other people in the area helped collar the man.

Responding police found two sticks of marijuana from the suspect’s possession.

Pelayo was tested positive for alcohol use at the Mandaue City Hospital.

SALESMAN ROBBED IN LAPU-LAPU

A 23-YEAR-OLD salesman reported to the police that he was robbed by a lone armed robber in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Singlee Lim Jr., worker of Crisbenz Trading, said he was about to deliver softdrinks to a store when he was held up at gunpoint around 3 p.m. last Thursday.

Lim said the robber took his cell phone worth P5,000 and fled on a motorcycle.

2 DIE IN CEBU CITY SHOOTINGS

TWO persons were killed in separate shooting incidents yesterday in Cebu City.

Estrella de Leon, 40, was walking along a road in barangay Cogon-Pardo when motorcycle-riding men peppered her with bullets.

De Leon, who lived in barangay Kamagayan, went to Cogon-Pardo to visit her sister.

SPO4 Rey Cuyos said investigators are checking reports that the killing may have something to do with the woman being a pimp.

De Leon sustained three gunshot wounds in the body.

An empty shell of a .45 pistol was recovered in the crime scene.

In barangay Duljo-Fatima, Henry Gallando was found dead by the road with multiple gunshot wounds in the body.

Police said Gallando, a scavenger, was shot by an unidentified assailant while he was walking on B. Aranas Street.

Three slugs and an empty shell of a .45 pistol were found in the crime scene.
