CEBU City police arrested a 28-year-old man who was allegedly involved in illegal recruitment activities.

Christian De Vera Nemenzo, 28, was arrested in an entrapment operation conducted by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) last Thursday in an uptown mall in Cebu City.

The arrest stemmed from a complaint of two persons, who went to the CIDG-7 office last Tuesday.

The complainants, Jaisy Baya Taruc, 27, and Cherry Edaño Revalde, 29, both from Mandaue City, said Nemenzo promised to give them jobs in a hospital abroad.

The complainants said they each gave P6,500 to Nemenzo as initial payment for their processing fees.

The complainants said several weeks had passed but Nemenzo still failed to deliver on his promise to give them jobs abroad.

Upon receiving the complaint, the CIDG-7 coordinated with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and found out that Nemenzo was not authorized to recruit employees abroad.

During the entrapment operation, Nemenzo was arrested after accepting a wad of marked money from the two complainants.
