MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang on Saturday said the setting up of temporary burial sites and the return of forensic teams from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will speed up the burial process of fatalities from Supertyphoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the temporary burial sites will allow still-unidentified bodies to be exhumed once forensic teams need to process them later.

Valte said the NBI Disaster Victim Identification Team returned to Tacloban City Thursday to resume the processing of remains.

“The temporary mass burial sites are being established. Under the setup, the bodies can be exhumed as needed,” Valte said in a radio interview.
