Petron looks to stay unscathed, faces Air21

LEFT AS THE only unbeaten team in the league, the Petron Blaze Boosters try to sustain their hot streak when they clash with the Air21 Express today in the 39th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Boosters are lording it over the standings with 5-0 (win-loss) card. They are on a tear despite missing key players due to injuries.

Petron once again bucked the absence of Alex Cabagnot, Ronald Tubid and Chris Ross when it edged out the Alaska Aces last Saturday, 86-85.

The Boosters are up against an Air21 team that finally ended a major slump following a 92-77 win over the Barako Bull Energy Colas last Saturday.

The lopsided win ended the Express’ five-game slide but they still remain at the bottom of the standings with a 1-5 record.

“It was a dramatic improvement on our part. Basically if you look at our last two games, that was more or less the team we were projecting to play this conference,” Air21 coach Franz Pumaren told pba.ph after the much-need victory. /EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
