45 choirs in int’l competition at Aliw Theater

The public is invited to watch the Philippine International Choral Competition, also known as Sing ‘n’ Joy Manila 2013, to be held at Aliw Theater Complex in Pasay City from Dec. 11 to 14, under the aegis of Manila Broadcasting Co. (MBC), Interkultur Germany and the Philippine Choral Directors Association.

Forty-five choirs from key cities across Southeast Asia will converge at the all-inclusive choral competition, where the Grand Prix winner will receive $5,000 from joint organizers MBC and Interkultur Germany.

The international jury will be composed of the most distinguished choral directors from Indonesia, Vietnam, Burma (Myanmar), the United States and the Philippines.

Gold, silver, and bronze certificates will be given to participating choirs in the children’s youth, folklore, musica sacra, pop and gospel-spiritual categories, along with world ratings.

FEATURED STORIES

Renowned choral conductors Kirby Shaw of the United States and Jonathan Velasco of the Philippines will also facilitate workshops on Dec. 12 and 13.

Friendship concerts will likewise be held at SM City Manila, Shangri-La Plaza and Kamuning First United Methodist Church.
