Toll lane at SLEx San Pedro undergoes rehab
The 500-meter San Pedro section of South Luzon Expressway’s (SLEx) inner lane is currently undergoing rehabilitation, but work will be suspended from Dec. 15 until Jan. 15, 2014, in view of the Christmas holiday rush.
The rehab work, which started Nov. 6, involves soil excavation, multiple compaction and testing of sublayers; followed by the laying of geotextile and geogrids to stabilize the road sub-base and make it durable.
This will be followed by concrete- and asphalt-laying works.
Other rehabilitation projects that were recently completed include road repair and asphalt overlay works from Alabang to Manplasan, and the weep-hole installation on SLEx’s median to prevent water in the soil from seeping into the pavement and causing potholes and other damage.
The Manila Toll Expressway Systems Inc., operator of SLEx, appeals to motorists for their understanding and cooperation since these projects are meant to maintain the road’s quality and level of safety.
Motorists may call the SLEx hotline 0917-OUR-SLEX (687-7539) to seek assistance or report road incidents.
