Police beef up security for holidays

IN anticipation of increased incidence of crimes against property during the holidays, the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) has strengthened police visibility.

Supt. Pablo Labra II, head of the Police Regional Intelligence Division revealed that they are monitoring three groups of snatchers from Ormoc City and Cagayan De Oro that arrived in Cebu and are staying in pension houses in Mandaue City.

He reminds the public to be vigilant including those who take PUJs as these criminals may also victimize passengers.

These unscrupulous individuals also prefer to operate in crowded areas.

In Cebu City, more police personnel will be deployed in streets, markets, business establishments and areas where nightly activities are held like in Colon and Fuente Osmeña.

In Mandaue City, Supt. Henry Biñas, Deputy City Director for Administration, said they have established checkpoints and an integrated patrol system.

On the other hand, Supt. Jonathan Abella of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said more personnel are deployed in different resorts where tourists are expected to flock during the holidays.
