Aquino to revisit Bohol
MANILA, Philippines—President Aquino is set to visit a disaster zone again—but not to the areas still reeling from the devastation brought by Supertyphoon “Yolanda.”
Aquino will instead be returning to Bohol, which was rocked by a 7.2-magnitude earthquake last month and which he had already visited twice since.
The President is flying to the province to check on rehabilitation efforts there more than a month after the earthquake, according to Assistant Secretary Rey Marfil.
The Bohol trip comes in the wake of a Palace announcement on Tuesday that relief operations in Leyte and Samar had now “stabilized,” a situation that would allow the government to focus on “recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.”
Up to 12,500 jobs would be up for grabs for typhoon victims as part of the “emergency employment program” covering “clearing and cleaning activities” by the Department of Labor and Employment.
