THREE players won two titles each in the 2nd leg of the PSC-PHILTA Visayas Junior Tennis Championships, which survived the wrath of supertyphoon “Yolanda” last Friday and came to an end yesterday at the La Paz Tennis Courts in La Paz, Iloilo City.

Metro Manila’s Ma. Dominique Ong of St. Paul University-Manila, Luke Alquin Martinez and Averille Sacapano all went home with two championship titles each in the typhoon-disrupted Philta Group 2 tournament, which was transferred at the Metropolis Indoor Courts for 2 days before returning to La Paz for the championship matches because of the typhoon.

Ong won the 18-Under girls’ division tiara after defeating Mary Grace Zapanta, 6-0, 6-1. Her next championship cap came in the 16-Under girls’ division as she replicated her feat over Zapanta with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Flores proved his victory was no fluke after he once again snatched another victory from Crisosto, 6-3, 1-6, 10-3, to pocket the 16-Under Boys’ division championship tiara.

Sacapano captured her first title via a 6-1, 6-0 mastery over Steph Crisosto in the 14-Under Girls’ division championship match before she again downed the same rival, 6-4, 6-0, to snare the 12-Under Girls’ division tiara. /correspondent jade s. violeta
