1st DepEd-Cebu City Inter-Public School basketball final game today

THE championship round of the 1st DepEd-Cebu City Inter-Public School Baksetball Tournament will be played today at the Cebu City Sports Institute Arena in barangay San Nicolas, Cebu City.

The Pardo National High School (PNHS) takes on the Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School (RDMNHS) in the 8:30 a.m. first game, while the Bo. Luz National High School (BLNHS) collides with the Zapatera National High School (ZNHS) in the next game at 10 a.m.

The winners will play in a knockout championship match.

Ildebando Velasquez, executive director of the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC), said the tournament, which started last Aug. 13, is part of CCSC’s plan to create a DepEd-Cebu City basketball team that will go up against second teams of the Cebu Schools Athletics Federation Inc. (Cesafi) in the Cebu City Olympics.

Velasquez said 22 players from the South District and 16 players from the North District have been chosen to be part of the training pool which will be handled by coach Giovannie Romarate.

After one month of training, 15 players will be chosen from the pool to comprise the DepEd-Cebu City Team.

Players who were chosen from the South District were Rick Jason Estero Jerome Bagio, James Militar, Rolljan Jurado and Gil Betirol of Don Carlos Gothong Memorial NHS, Dennis Denver Ardiante (RDMNHS), Peter Paul Codilla (RDMNHS), Joe Marie Flores (RDMNHS), Jumar Tabanao (RDMNHS), Kevin Gabucan (RDMNHS), Gleen Michael Garcia (Don Vicente Rama Memorial NHS), Ermil Espinosa (DVRMNHS), Francis Kier Labrador (DVRMNHS), Cesar Najaro Jr. (DVRMNHS), Richie Rich Rubio (DVRMNHS), Rodelio de Pedro (PNHS), Dave Nacario (PNHS), Antonio Monterde Ramos (PNHS), Flordelito Ytang (PNHS), Briell Orbeta (Bulacao NHS), Santos Tabada (Basak Commmunity) and Nathan Vincent Co (Bulacao NHS).
