‘Timbangan ng bayan’ eyed for Tabunok public market
THE Talisay City government is planning to install a weighing scale or timbangan ng bayan inside the Tabunok Public Market amid reports of weighing scale cheating involving the vendors.
This developed after a certain Aranz Plarisan of barangay Lawaan III, Talisay City, aired his concern on his Facebook account about the rampant weighing scale cheating inside the market.
Part of his message reads “kun ari sa bugasan ginagmay ra kay tag 1 gram ra pero kun tinambanun pagkwenta dako nana…pero ang grabe mao jud sa isdaan nga halos tag 1/8 or hapit na 1/4 ang kulang sa kilo..good to the honest area (In the rice and corn grits area, there is a difference of only a gram but if you sum it all up this is already big…but the worst is in the fish section where the weight is 1/8 or even almost 1/4 short of a kilogram..good to the honest area).”
“I’m happy that Mayor Johnny V. De los Reyes reopened the Tabunok market but sad for those unfair vendors victimizing innocent consumers,” Plarisan added.
Talisay City public information officer Vincie Monterde immediately ordered market supervisor Nora Dadula-Carlos to check on the matter. He said Carlos conducted a monitoring and put questionable vendors under surveillance.
“Luoy ang mga kunsumidor kay naghatag sila ug saktong bayad pero kuwang ang gibug-aton sa ilang napalit (We pity the consumers because they pay the right amount yet they do not get the exact weight of the goods that they purchased),” Monterde said.
