Lapu-Lapu vendors donate for Bohol
INSTEAD of holding a Vendors’ Night for the coming fiesta, public market vendors in Lapu-Lapu City are donating their activity budget for the Bohol quake victims – at least P80,000.
Imelda Bandalan, association president, said they agreed to use the money collected for their annual party which is usually held at the city auditorium a few days before the Nov. 21 fiesta.
More than 800 vendors contributed P100 each. At first they decided to give half for the Bohol drive, but later decided to give the entire amount collected.
The gesture pleased Lapu-Lapu Mayor Paz Radaza who hinted that this won’t go unrewarded.
“Let’s see what we can do for the Vendors’ Night. It should be filled with entertainment,” she said.
The Lapu-Lapu city government and the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu-Cordova Chapter has been accepting cash and other donations for Bohol at a booth set up at the City Hall lobby.
