FOI to be tackled in Senate this week – Drilon

MANILA, Philippines – Senate President Franklin Drilon on Sunday said the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill will be tackled in Senate this week.

“The FOI has already been sponsored and I asked our colleagues that it should be tackled and debated on for the next three days. An interpellation has been set in the next three days,” Drilon said in a radio interview.

However, the Senate President said it would not be possible to pass the bill on second reading by Wednesday.

He said they will prioritize the FOI bill pending the budget deliberations.

Drilon also assured the public that Senate will pass the proposed measure within this year or before March 2014.
