SWU, UC to clash for top spot in Smart taekwondo
THE Southwestern University (SWU) junior boys squad and the University of Cebu (UC) jins will battle each other at the resumption of the 2013 Smart-Philippine Taekwondo League (PTL) tomorrow at the SM Consolacion in Consolacion town, northern Cebu.
SWU, UC and Cabancalan NHS are currently caught in a three-way deadlock in the junior boys division after inking 1-1 (win-loss) records each.
The winner in tomorrow’s tiff between SWU and UC will grab hold of the top position going into the fourth round.
The junior girls division, on the other hand, is currently being lorded over by SWU, after Lorelee Natividad, Nicole Elpa, Lyza Mae Sabellano, Florlyn Cabo, Ashley Venus Bongon and Roan Begontes helped the fighting lady Cobras etch their second straight win in as many outings the last time out.
The UC jins are currently at second place with a clean 1-0 slate while Abellana National High School (1-2) and Cabancalan NHS (0-2) complete the junior girls division cast.
Leading the way in the cadet girls category is the Divino team with a 2-0 record followed by UC at second with 1-1, Cabancalan NHS with 1-2 and St. Theresa’s College with 0-1.
Article continues after this advertisementThe University of San Carlos (USC) is ahead in the cadet boys division with an immaculate record of 2-0, followed by UC with 1-0, Cebu Cherish with 2-1, San Roque with 1-2 and the Abellana National School with a 0-3 card.
Article continues after this advertisementThe juniors division of this tournament is being participated in by fighters 17-and-below while the cadet division is for those who are 12 to 14 years old.
