3 stores in Lapu mall ransacked

Three stores inside a mall in Lapu-Lapu City were ransacked Thursday night.

Police later arrested an 18-year-old man who was caught hiding in the ceiling of one of the ransacked stores at the Marina Mall.

Jamil Batinggulo, a resident of barangay Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu, allegedly admitted that he and two companions ransacked the mall.

Batinggulo identified his alleged cohorts as Christian and Sinen. He said he didn’t know where the two men went after the thefts.

Batinggulo said they entered the mall using a duplicate key.

Police said an investigation will be conducted on how the three men were able to get a duplicate key.

After opening one of the stores, Batinggulo said they went to the other stores passing through the ceiling.

Police said P50,000 cash was stolen from a ready-to-wear (RTW) store while another P50,000 was stolen from Salon D’ Rose.
