Cops deny POLITICS IN MASIAO bust

POLICE insisted there were no politics involved in the arrest of the son of a barangay captain in Cebu City accused of being involved in illegal numbers game locally known as masiao.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch said it is coincidental that the arrest of Niño Resureccion came a few weeks before the barangay elections.

Santander is reacting to Suba barangay captain Roger Resureccion’s pronouncement that he was surprised with the timing of his son’s arrest.

“I respect the opinion of the barangay captain,” said Santander. Niño was arrested Monday night in his father’s house after he allegedly sold number combinations to a policeman who posed as a bettor.
