PILI, Camarines Sur—Iriga City and six municipalities in Camarines Sur have been without electricity for two days now after power firm San Miguel Energy Corp. cut off supply to Camarines Sur III Electric Cooperative Inc. (Casureco III) starting at noon on Monday, a spokesperson from Casureco III confirmed on Tuesday.

Fernando Turiano, spokesperson of Casureco III, which distributes electric supply to Iriga City and the municipalities of Balatan, Buhi, Bula, Bato, Baao and Nabua, which are collectively known as Camarines Sur’s Rinconada Area, said they have lost their power supply since Monday after the cooperative failed to pay half of its original debt on the deadline assigned by San Miguel Energy Corp.

Turiano said the original debt of Casureco III amounted to P84 million and San Miguel had originally threatened to cut the power supply last Sept. 24.
