Boy shot on plantation in Davao del Sur

DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur—A 14-year-old was fighting for his life Friday after being repeatedly shot by a still unidentified assailant on a plantation owned by a company identified with businessman Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco on Thursday evening.

Senior Supt. Ronaldo Llanera, Davao del Sur police director, said on Friday that Beron Pendong Sarnillo of Sitio Labrador in Barangay Poblacion suffered multiple gunshot wounds when he was shot at the planation of the First Davao Consolidated Joint Venture Corp. Inc. (FDJVC Inc.) in Barangay Culaman.

It was not immediately known what the victim was doing in the area, he said.

Llanera said Sarnillo was rushed to the provincial hospital here after he was found limping near the company, which maintains farms planted to durian, banana and other fruit trees.

“The victim is now undergoing surgical operation,” he said.

Llanera said an investigation was being conducted to determine the identity and the motive of the shooter.
