BFAR Agrilink Trade Fair set in Pasay
The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) will hold its Agrilink Trade Fair from Oct. 10 to 12 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
The fair will showcase the bureau’s various programs nationwide and the resulting array of products and best practices.
BFAR Director Asis Perez said that bureau had always strived to strike a balance between the need to achieve food security and the urgency of conserving aquatic resources through sustainable use.
One of the featured projects is the Seaweed Development Program, which aims to build on the country’s advantage as the third largest producer of aquatic plants in the world, accounting for 1.74 million metric tons or 10.03 percent of the global production.
Some of the program’s success stories may be found in the provinces of Palawan, Bohol and Tawi-Tawi.
