Pangasinan Rep hurt in road accident, pronounced safe
MANILA, Philippines — Pangasinan second-district Representative Leopoldo Bataoil was hurt in a road accident, a Radyo Inquirer report said Wednesday.
Bataoil, together with his daughter, Angela and driver, a Police Officer 3 Evangelista, were wounded after their Nissan Escapade van (ZET 264) collided with a Dagupan bus (DAS 578) at around 1 am, Wednesday, in Poblacion Bugallon, Pangasinan.
Citing reports from the Highway Patrol Group in Region 1, HPG director Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina said the south-bound bus liner had just overtaken a motorcycle, and careered off Congressman Bataoil’s van on the opposite lane in an effort to evade a head-on collision.
The victims were rushed to the Special Group Hospital and Trauma Center in Dagupan City, said the HPG director. Bataoil suffered a head concussion, but was pronounced out of danger, together with his daughter. The driver, PO3 Evangelista, was still in critical condition, Chief Superintendent Esina said.
The bus that figured in the accident was impounded while its driver, a certain Benny Cainap, was detained , said Espina.
