Carmen town councilor nabbed anew

A MUNICIPAL councilor in Carmen town, northern Cebu was arrested after he allegedly tried to attack his former driver with a bayonet.

James Camara was arrested last Wednesday afternoon barely three weeks after he was arrested for illegal possession of firearms.

The latest arrest was based on the complaint of Dominador Ruiz who filed a charge of grave threats against Camara yesterday.

Camara was taken to the Chong Hua Hospital in Cebu City after he complained of hypertension during his arrest.

Camara had also been arrested last August 27 after police caught him carrying a KG9 sub-machine pistol.

In his first arrest, Camara was also taken to a hospital due to hypertension.

Before the arrest, Masocol said Ruiz had gone to the police station where he complained that Camara threatened to harm him

Ruiz recalled that after Wednesday’s council session, he approached Camara at the back of municipal hall and asked him not to include him in his conflict with the mayor.

Ruiz alleged that Camara got irked, took a bayonet from his car and tried to attack him. Ruiz ran to the police station to report the incident.

Camara, in a phone interview, denied Ruiz’ allegations. He said it was Ruiz who pointed a bayonet at him while he was aboard his vehicle.

Camara accused Ruiz of trying to stab him while he was in his car.
