DON Bosco College (DBC) and University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) hurdled their first assignments yesterday as the football competition in the secondary level of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) kicked off at the Cebu City Sports Center.

In the opener following a ceremonial kick, DBC surged past University of San Carlos, 3-1, while USPF routed University of San Jose Recoletos (USJR), 12-0, in the second game.

Both DBC and USPF have in their lineup members of the national junior team.

In the first game, drawing first blood for DBC was Vincent “Ngitz” Lovitos, a former member of the Little Azkals, at the 13th minute of the game.

Gerard Onez tied the game at 1-all when he scored the equalizer for USC at the 24th minute.

In the second half, USC gifted DBC with an own goal committed by Kyle Soco, giving the Bosconians a one-point lead at 2-1.

Agustin Roa sealed it for the Greywolves with his goal in the 62nd minute.

In the second game, Christian Melibo scored a hattrick in USPF’s 12-0 thrashing of USJR.

Contributing two goals each were Josef Omega and Joseph Cadera.
