2 fugitive female Davao inmates re-arrested
DAVAO CITY, Philippines–Two female inmates who escaped from the Davao City Rehabilitation Center’s female dormitory have been recaptured and returned to jail, the authorities said Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Amelia Talento, director of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology in Southern Mindanao, said in a statement that the inmates–Annalyn Reyes, who faces robbery and intimidation charges, and Mary Jane Malakas, a robbery suspect–were recaptured in Toril and Calinan districts on August 17, the same day they escaped from detention.
Talento credited the BJMP’s Special Tactics And Response team, led by Inspector Julie Auxilio, the local police, and the military-led Task Force Davao for the immediate recapture of the inmates.
Harvey Bryan Malnegro, BJMP community relations officer, said Talento also ordered an investigation against jail officers on duty at the time of Reyes and Malakas’ escape.
“An administrative case may be filed against personnel determined to be negligent of their duty,” Malnegro said.
