MANILA, Philippines — Alert level one was raised on Marikina River on Tuesday morning, following torrential rains spawned by the southwest monsoon and tropical storm Maring (international name Trami).

As of 8:30 a.m., water level was at 15.1 meters, the Marikina public information office said on its Twitter account.

On Sunday night, Marikina River’s water levels rose to alert level two but eventually went down and alert levels were lifted Monday afternoon.

Alarm level one means the river is at least 15 meters above sea level. In alarm level two, the river is at least 16 meters above sea level which calls for “preparedness;” Alarm level three is 17 meters above sea level and calls for “evacuation;” while critical level or at least 18 meters above sea level calls for “forced evacuation.”
