North Cotabato inmates seize jail warden
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Some prisoners at the North Cotabato District Jail have been holding hostage their Inmate Welfare Development (IWD) officer since 6 a.m. Monday.
Insp. Diosdado Inso, the assistant jail warden, said the prisoners were holding hostage Senior Jail Officer 3 Samuel Sunico, the IWD who was inside the jail compound for a regular dance therapy of the inmates.
The inmates are complaining about the strict security being implemented, affecting visiting relatives.
The inmates are also asking the jail management to increase the daily food allowance, Inso said.
The North Cotabato District Jail has a capacity of 350 inmates, but is accommodating more than 700 inmates at present.
