Capitol Parish turns golden

THE Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) Parish in Capitol Site will celebrate its 50th founding anniversary on Aug. 22, with the theme, “Building a Holy Temple with Living Stones.”

The parish was established in 1963.

The parish will be holding triduum Masses from Aug. 19 to 21 at 5:30 p.m. These will be celebrated by Bishop Julito Cortes, Bishop Emilio Bataclan and Msgr. Roberto Alesna, respectively.

The anniversary Mass on Aug. 22 will be celebrated by Archbishop Emeritus of Cebu Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal.

FEATURED STORIES

Sponsors of the Masses are parish hermanos and hermanas, past and present.

Activities will follow after each Mass.

A thanksgiving concert, entitled “Voices from the Choir Loft” is slated on Aug. 17 at the parish gymnasium. The concert is a fund-raising for the church expansion.

The concert will feature various performers, including Msgr. Agustin Ancajas, the OLSH Parish Grand Choir and guest choir and Celestial Voices Choir.

The jubilee celebration is organized by the Parish Pastoral Council under president Betty Dy-Tee and the Team of Pastors — Msgr. Dennis Villarojo (team moderator), Fr. Felipe Diacosta and Fr. Mateo Maneja and Parochial Vicars — Fr. Expedito Torrevillas Jr. and Msgr. Ancajas.
