10 flights canceled due to typhoon “Labuyo”

MANILA, Philippines — The brunt of typhoon “Labuyo” grounded flights to and from Northern Philippines throughout Monday, information from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) showed.

Cebu Pacific canceled six flights from Manila to Tuguegarao City, Virac in Catanduanes and Cauayan in Isabela and back-scheduled throughout Monday.

PAL Express also did not push through with round-trip flights between Manila and Basco, Batanes and Manila and Tuguegarao, rounding up the total 10 flights that were canceled on Monday.

The Canadian Embassy also advised its citizens against the possible effects of the typhoon, warning its citizens against travelling to areas known to be on its path.

“The typhoon season extends from May to December, but typhoons can occur throughout the year. These storms can result in significant loss of life and extensive damage to infrastructure, and can hamper the provision of essential services,” said the Embassy in a travel advisory updated Sunday afternoon.

The alert cautioned citizens on its landfall in northern Luzon.

“Heavy winds and rains make flash-flooding and landslides a significant threat. Avoid disaster areas and follow the advice of local authorities,” said the Embassy.
