Stallions, Blue Devils forge three-way tie
THE LEXMARK Stallions and the Stream Blue Devils forged a three-way tie at second place after they scored separate wins last Sunday in the 2011 Powerade E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
The Stallions leaned on a searing second half attack to stun the defending champions Teletech Titans, 70-59, while the Blue Devils scored an easy 72-60 win over the Eperformax Reds.
Lexmark, Teletech and Stream now all have 8-2 (win-loss) records. The Titans’ loss left the Convergys Wolves alone at the top spot with eight wins and one loss.
Franco Angelo Cipriano was a monster in both ends of the floor, leading Lexmark with game-highs 22 points and 18 rebounds and also had two assists and a steal.
Mervin Balansag and Jose Felix Cleopas backed Cipriano with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
Sherwin Emmanuelle Resilla led the Titans with 18 points, while Lourenz Limpangog had 15.
Article continues after this advertisementSylvester Millevo and Roderick Mangubat, on the other hand, waxed hot from the field, topping the Blue Devils with 24 and 22 points, respectively.
Article continues after this advertisementFloyd Singco scored 14 points, Mark Jeffrey Baello finished with 13 and Ignatius Loyola pitched in 10 for the Reds, who slipped to 5-5.
In the other game, the Aegis People Support Reds climbed to 5-4 with an 87-71 win over Accenture.
Five players scored in double figures for the Reds with Clifford Amarado firing 16 points. Jedfrey Veloso netted 15, Mark Anthony Rabuya wound up with 14, Glenn Nayon had 13 while John Louie Arriesgado contributed 11.
Randy Bihag exploded for 25 points, Albert Padernos tallied 17 and Jeous Laurence Abaño submitted 14 for the Sharks, who absorbed thier seventh loss in 10 starts./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
