Parañaque OKs 3-month realty tax amnesty

/ 10:33 PM August 02, 2013

The Parañaque city government is offering a three-month tax amnesty for real property owners who have failed to pay for the past five years.

An ordinance signed July 30 by Mayor Edwin Olivarez allowed the payment of unsettled property taxes without surcharges and penalties from August 15 to November 15.

The amnesty covers real properties and improvements not yet declared for assessment, as well as properties whose taxes remained unpaid, for the last five years.

Olivarez stressed the need to raise city revenues, saying the past administration left behind a P1.8-billion debt with LandBank and nearly P2 billion in unpaid power and water bills and other obligations to contractors and suppliers. Jaymee T. Gamil
