Baby found on QC sidewalk

/ 10:32 PM August 02, 2013

A baby boy was found abandoned on a sidewalk near a jeepney terminal in Quezon City on Thursday night. The baby was crawling and was nearly run over by a jeepney when spotted on Sgt. Catolos Street, Barangay Immaculate Conception, around 6:10 p.m., according to kagawad (village councilor) Gloria Osares.

A woman in jeans and a T-shirt was seen carrying the infant in the area minutes earlier and the jeepney drivers asked her if she was looking for someone, Osares said. The woman did not answer and was last seen leaving without the child.

Later, Carlos Balbuena was parking his jeepney along Catolos when another motorist alerted him to the crawling baby that was in the vehicle’s path. The baby, who was only in shorts, appeared to be in good health and was described to be just under a year old. Barangay officials have placed him in the care of social workers. Julie Aurelio
