Tindak Sugbo 3-day bike exhibition set
The 2013 ‘Tindak Sugbo: Bike For Life’ of the Psychology Volunteers on Bikes from the University of the Philippines-Cebu and the Critical Mass Cebu will run from Aug. 9 to 11.
The three-day exhibition ride will be joined by roughly 12 bike groups aiming to promote not just a healthy and active lifestyle of bikers but also to promote their advocacy of equal rights on the road.
The event also aims to strengthen the campaign of the Psychology Volunteers on Bikes and Critical Mass Cebu to have bicycle lanes in Cebu City’s streets, a resolution of which was already passed to the city council.
This ride is the follow-up to the successful ‘Suroy’ fun rides that visited some of Cebu’s heritage sites, markets, schools and government facilities to educate Cebuanos about the importance of equal rights of motorists and bikers. It also aims to promote biking as an alternative mode of transportation.
“This event will also showcase some of the oldest and best designed bikes although our main goal is to educate Cebuanos about the importance of biking, the importance of having bike lanes and the healthy benefits of biking,” said Edna Lee of UP’s Psychology Volunteers on Bikes during yesterday’s launching at the West Gorordo Hotel.
Also in attendance was Critical Mass Cebu founder Ryan Noval and other participating bike groups.
