SHS-AC inaugurates Magis Eagles Arena for sports and cultural events
THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu celebrates another milestone in its athletic history today as it inaugurates the spanking new Magis Eagles Arena, a multi-purpose facility that will cater to cultural events and most of all, the activities of the defending Cesafi juniors champions, the Magis Eagles.
The arena is a two-story edifice with a basement. The upper ground floor features two basketball courts using Regupol flooring, Porter retractable goals that are ceiling-mounted, and digital scoreboards. The courts can also accommodate volleyball games and other indoor sports. The arena has a capacity of 3,000 people. The building’s lower ground floor is an open space that will cater to the other sports teams and clubs from culture and arts.
Gracing the blessing will be Father Provincial Antonio F. Moreno, of the Society of Jesus. He will be assisted by SHS-Ateneo de Cebu and Cesafi President Fr. Manuel Uy, S.J.
The timing also marks an important date for the school as the Society of Jesus celebrated yesterday the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the religious order also known as the “Jesuits.” /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
