Some parts of Metro Manila flooded due to afternoon downpour

MANILA, Philippines – Several parts of Metro Manila were hit by floods following a downpour Sunday afternoon.

Radio reports said flooded areas included España Boulevard in Manila, Visayas, Congressional and Araneta avenues in Quezon City.

Floods in those areas ranged from gutter to knee deep, causing heavy traffic.

A Yellow Rainfall alert was raised by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration over Metro Manila  and nearby provinces at 1:40 p.m. ,and Pagasa said moderate-heavy rains were expected that may continue for the next three hours.

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was plotted 50 kilometers northeast of Surigao City (10.2°N, 125.8°E) and it was embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa added.
