Thunderstorm alert up anew in metro as LPA hovers over Puerto Princesa
MANILA, Philippines – A low pressure area was spotted near Puerto Princesa City, Wednesday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.
The LPA, spotted 210 kilometers northwest of Puerto Princesa City, is embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Mindanao will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, Pagasa said.
Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast to east will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the southeast over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate, it added.
Meanwhile, after a brief respite from rains, the state weather bureau on Wednesday afternoon issued anew a thunderstorm advisory in Metro Manila and nearby areas.
Article continues after this advertisementA thunderstorm is expected to affect Metro Manila (Quezon City, Pasay, Makati and Camanava), Rizal (San Mateo), Bulacan (Meycauyan and Marilao) and nearby areas within two hours, Pagasa said.
All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flashfloods.
