Mindanao schools join Run 2 Plant

/ 06:38 AM June 27, 2013

THE third run of Run 2 Plant 4 GREENIN Philippines on June 29 will see the participation of more local government units (LGUs) and schools in Mindanao aside from the 40 municipalities and component cities in the province of Cebu.

Through a collaboration with the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.’s GREENIN Philippines program forged partnership with schools outside the Visayas region.

CEAP provided the list of schools where the Aboitiz Equity Ventures chose their partners for the event. The chosen schools and their respective LGUs are Assumption Academy of Nabunturan in Compostela Valley, St. Mary’s Academy in Tagum, Davao del Norte and Sacred Heart High School in Iligan as their partners for the event.

The number of schools from Mindanao that will participate in the activity has now increased to four, including last year’s participant, the Holy Cross of Bansalan College in Davao del Sur.

The activity is in line with the government’s national greening program that aims to plant 1.5 billion trees covering about 1.5 million hectares by 2016.
