PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Philippines – Authorities are searching for a missing fighter plane of the Philippine Air Force, which failed to return to base following a training flight Sunday afternoon.

Initial reports from PAF’s 570th Wing indicated that the missing plane, an OV-10 Bronco, took off with another fighter jet at around 6:30 p.m. and shortly thereafter last made radio contact at 7 nautical miles east of the Puerto Princesa City International Airport, according to a source who declined to be named for lack of authority to speak on the matter.

Defense sources believed that the plane got lost somewhere around the southern town of Narra in Palawan.

The PAF is now coordinating with local officials for the search, the source added.
